For over 20 years, Buzz Hawley has helped clients navigate the legislative and regulatory processes to secure funding, affect policy changes, and reduce waste, fraud, and abuse. He works on a diverse set of issues including defense, veterans affairs, homeland security, government contracting, information technology, and higher education.
Buzz is active in local Republican politics, and as an Associate Vice President at VSA, he brings a campaign mentality to his government relations efforts. Clients appreciate his ability to develop succinct messages to communicate their priorities and organize and activate support to achieve their goals.
Buzz cut his teeth on Capitol Hill working for former Congressman Frank Wolf (R, VA-10), a member of the House Appropriations Committee. During his time with Mr. Wolf, Buzz concentrated on the Transportation, Energy and Water, Interior, Defense, Military Construction, Agriculture, VA-HUD, and Commerce-State-Justice-Judiciary Subcommittees.
Buzz received his Bachelor of Arts from the College of William and Mary in both Government and English. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University, where he serves on the Law School’s Advisory Board. He is also on the Board of Advisors for the Sorensen Institute of Political Leadership at the University of Virginia
