Laurie Katz specializes in agency program funding and appropriations work for a variety of the firm’s public and private higher education institutions and national coalitions. As a Director of Government Affairs, she is constantly in contact with Congressional and agency staff to understand their priorities and advocate for client needs.
Laurie monitors, analyzes, and reports on congressional activities including committee hearings and markups, scheduling and timing of floor consideration, and the latest news and information. On the federal agency side, she works to identify research priorities and opportunities as well as policy developments that may impact or expand funding initiatives for clients.
Laurie has a background in marketing management and before coming to VSA, she conducted grassroots marketing campaigns. Laurie is a graduate of the Pamplin School of Business at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).
