Van Scoyoc Associates Adds Lobbying Firepower: Shannon Campagna Recruited to VP Post
WASHINGTON – Van Scoyoc Associates (VSA) today announced the addition of Shannon Campagna, a highly regarded and successful government affairs professional. The addition of Campagna, who has represented some of the most recognizable brands in retail and consumer packaged goods over the past 20 years, is the third major hire announced by VSA this year as the firm adds capacity and positions itself for continued growth.
“When VSA made the decision to expand in 2019, Shannon was exactly the type of professional we were seeking,” said H. Stewart “Stu” Van Scoyoc, President & CEO of VSA. “She has a substantial record of legislative accomplishments for her clients and a reputation for excellence in building and maintaining strategic relationships and alliances. For two decades, companies and trade associations have sought out Shannon to solve complex legislative problems and navigate the ever-evolving world of Washington, D.C. Shannon’s impeccable reputation of service to her clients, as well as her energy and new ideas, will be a great addition to our VSA team.”
Prior to joining VSA, Shannon worked for Alston & Bird as a Senior Policy Advisor, where she advocated on behalf of a number of trade association clients, the food industry, major US manufacturers, and a healthcare startup.
“Van Scoyoc Associates has such a great reputation, one built on decades of success for their clients,” says Campagna. “I am excited to be joining this talented and experienced bipartisan team of experts. I look forward to bringing my years of experience and issue advocacy to help serve our current clients and expand our firm’s issue area portfolio.”
During her successful career, she represented the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), an alliance of the world’s most successful and innovative retailer and supplier companies - with more than 100,000 stores, manufacturing facilities and distribution centers nationwide - before Congress and federal agencies. Additionally, she served as the Vice President of Federal Government relations for Safeway, Inc. She also was the Director of Federal Government Affairs at Mars, Incorporated, where she was the lead lobbyist for brands like Snickers ®, M&M’s ®, Pedigree ® and Uncle Ben’s ®.
Early on, Shannon was the Washington representative for the National Beer Wholesalers Association, where she focused on issues related to the estate tax, excise taxes, labor and transportation regulations, advertising, prevention of underage consumption and the responsibility of the beer industry.
She is a member of the Tax Coalition and Co-Chair of the Government Relations Leadership Forum.
