Van Scoyoc Associates Adds Tax, Small Business Expert

WASHINGTON – Today, Van Scoyoc Associates (VSA) announced that Thad Inge will be joining the firm as Vice President. Thad most recently led government relations at Paychex, Inc., where he established a D.C. office and helped the company navigate a range of complex public policy issues, including COVID-19 relief legislation.

“Thad has a tremendous background as a legislative and regulatory strategist and is well-respected for his ability to work across the aisle and drive results,” said H. Stewart “Stu” Van Scoyoc, President and CEO of VSA. “His years of experience working in Congress, at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and in the private sector have provided him a unique skill set on a range of tax and small business issues. We are honored to have him join the team.”

In addition to tax and small business, Thad brings policy expertise in tax administration, retirement benefits, employee health benefits, fintech, payments, and employment and labor policy.

Thad began his career in Washington working for the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship under former Chair Mary Landrieu (D-LA) where he focused on technology policy and access to capital, and played a central role in drafting and passing small business technology transfer legislation out of the Senate. In 2010, Thad joined the SBA as part of the Obama administration, rising to the position of Associate Administrator, Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs, where he served as the principal legislative advisor to the Administrator. At SBA, Thad worked closely with Congress and the White House to expand the agency’s lending authority, create new opportunities for small business procurement, and to implement new programs for startups and incubators.

In 2016, Thad joined Paychex, a leading provider of integrated human capital management solutions for human resources, payroll, benefits, and insurance services. Paychex serves over 710,000 business clients and has $4 billion in annual revenues. Thad worked closely with Congress, the Executive Branch, trade associations, and public policy organizations to monitor and advance policies of importance to Paychex and its customers. He also took leadership roles in a variety of industry coalitions and associations. Thad will continue working on behalf of Paychex at VSA.

“I have long known and admired VSA and its deep policy expertise, and I’m excited to join them in making a positive impact in what continue to be unprecedented times,” Inge said. “I am also grateful for the opportunity to continue working on behalf of Paychex at VSA.”

A native of Mobile, Alabama, Thad received his Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. He lives with his wife Annie and three children in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
