Van Scoyoc Hires Geoff Bowman
WASHINGTON, DC – Responding to increasing client interest in the water resources and infrastructure fields, Van Scoyoc Associates (VSA) announced today that Geoff Bowman would be joining the firm as Vice President.
“Geoff has an expansive skill-set, network, and knowledge-base in an area where we are seeing more and more clients looking for help,” H. Stewart “Stu” Van Scoyoc, President of VSA, said. “Our Nation’s infrastructure – roadways to waterways – is at a critical point; having an expert like Geoff, able to guide clients through the political and bureaucratic process, is a big advantage for our already first-in-class water and infrastructure practice.”
Geoff was most recently the Staff Director of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee, a position he held since 2014. Prior to that, he had served as a Professional Staff Member on the Committee handling issues relevant to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Environmental Protection Agency among other agencies since 2003. He is an expert in both surface transportation and water resources infrastructure, having been actively involved in each of the last three Water Resources Development Acts, and two of the last Transportation Reauthorization bills.
In announcing his departure from the Committee, Chairman Bill Shuster (R, PA-9), said of Geoff, “he was instrumental in moving vital legislation, including WRDA 2007, WRRDA 2014, and the WIIN Act in 2016. He is very knowledgeable about the issues and will be missed.”
At VSA, Geoff will help clients develop and implement legislative and executive branch advocacy strategies in support of a broad range of infrastructure projects. His nearly two decades of water and infrastructure policy experience make him a valuable resource to states, communities, and other organizations looking to partner with the federal government on infrastructure projects.
“The Administration’s infrastructure plan is going to provide plenty of opportunities, but also creates some new challenges,” Bowman said. “Now is the time for groups around the country to engage. I am excited to be able to offer my insight and counsel to clients seeking to improve their communities.”
Prior to serving on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Geoff was a Senior Legislative Assistant to Congressman Walter Jones (R, NC-3), and to former Congressman Rick Hill (R, MT-AL).
Geoff earned a Bachelor of Arts at Elon University. He lives in Annapolis, Maryland, with his wife, 2 young daughters, and 2 dogs.
